Samuels, Bravo Punish Bangladesh

Khulna: Marlon Samuels led the way with an epic 260 while Shivnarine Chanderpaul (109) and Darren Bravo (127) also contributed as West Indies looked favourites to win the two-Test series. Denesh Ramdin was unbeaten on four.

Darren Bravo became the first casualty of the day when he was trapped lbw for 127 by Sohag Gazi in the last over before lunch to break up a 326-run, third wicket partnership with Samuels.

Samuels' 260 runs came off 455 balls and included 31 boundaries and three sixes, while Chanderpaul collected his 109 from 206 balls with ten boundaries and a six.

The West Indies resumed the day on the overnight score of 241-2 with Samuels on 109 and Bravo on 85.

In the morning session, the West Indies remained undaunted and often aggressive against the Bangladeshi bowlers as the visitors added 128 runs from 29 overs.
