Morgan Lift England in Thriller Win

Mumbai: Led by the heroics of skipper Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler, England pulled off a brilliant six-wicket win over India to finish the two-match Twenty20 series at 1-1.

Morgan (49* off 26 balls) and Buttler (15* off 7 balls) put up a crucial 32-run partnership in 13 delivery for the fifth wicket to pull off what seemed like an impossible victory at one stage when Yuvraj Singh was bowling in full flow.

Morgan hit five fours and 2 sixes and Buttler hit a 1 boundary and a six. Morgan hit six off the last ball of the innings bowled by Ashok Dinda to seal the victory the level the series at 1-1.

Earlier, Yuvraj picked up three crucial England wickets to lead the Indian fightback in their second international Twenty20 match in Mumbai on Saturday.

Yuvraj first got the all important breakthrough when he dismissed the dangerous Michael Lumb and then was successful to catch Luke Wright (5) plumb in front of the wicket.

Yuvraj then struck for the third time when he dismissed Alex Hales (42), who in his attempt to hit a slog sweep could only find Ashok Dinda at deep backward square.

Chasing a 178-run target, Lumb (50) smashed a brilliant half century to lead the English chase by hitting 6 boundaries and 2 sixes before being stumped by MS Dhoni off the bowling of Yuvraj.

Lumb and Hales got England off to a great start when the duo reached the 50-run partnership in just 31 balls by blasting the Indian bowlers all around the park

Earlier, MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina led the Indian fightback and helped the hosts reach a formidable score of 177/8 by putting up a quickfire 60 run partnership.

A rousing start was provided by Virat Kohli, who made a brisk 38 in 20 balls while adding 57 runs with opener Gautam Gambhir (17) for the second wicket.

But India lost their way a bit with the fall of four wickets between the seventh and 15th overs before skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (38 off 18) and Suresh Raina (35 not out off 24) provided the late spark with a sixth-wicket partnership of 60 runs in just 27 balls.

Among the other top order batsmen, Rohit Sharma made a 19-ball 24 but Ajinkya Rahane and Yuvraj Singh, who was the Man of the Match in the series opener at Pune, failed.
