Faisalabad v Otago, CLT20 qualifier, Mohali

Kiwis Volts Takes on Pakistan Wolves

Chandigarh: Participating in the Champions League T20 for the first time, both Faisalabad Wolves and Otago Volts will try and get off to a winning start when they clash at the PCA stadium, Mohali on Tuesday.

Putting their visa woes behind, the Wolves had an intense practice session, which lasted for more than two hours in the morning. Later, they had another net session in the evening, this time with their regular captain Misbah-ul-haq and star off-spinner Saeed Ajmal in their ranks.

Despite the logistical problems, the Wolves looked to be in good shape and are eager to make their mark in the tournament.

The Wolves' chances in the CLT20 will largely depend on the batting form of skipper Misbah-ul-haq and the bowling skills of Saeed Ajmal, both proven players at the international stage.

Besides the two, medium-pacers Ehsan Adil and Asad Ali will bring more international experience to the unit. Wicket-keeper Mohammad Salman and southpaw Ali Waqas are two other players on whom coach Naveed Anjum will be banking on.

On the other hand, Otago Volts is a well-knit unit. The IPL experience of McCullum brothers - Brendon and Nathan - will stand them in good stead during the tournament. Brendon has a knack of scoring big in the opening match of a tournament. His breathtaking 158 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first match of 2008 IPL is now a part of folklore. The elder of McCullum's will once again try to make it big and put the match beyond the Wolves.
