Munro Powers New Zealand Seal First Win of the Tour

Dhaka: Colin Munro and debutant Anton Devcich hits fifties as New Zealand beat Bangladesh by 15 runs in one-off T20 at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur on Wednesday.

This is Kiwis first win of the tour. Two match Test series drawn 0-0 and Bangladesh cleansweep in three match One-day series.
Chasing a target of 205, Bangladesh faltered on 189-9 in 20 overs, as the top order failed to stand up in the face of good bowling.

For New Zealand, Ross Taylor added 28 while Corey Anderson hit 18 to propel New Zealand to 204-5, its highest T20 total against Bangladesh.

Bangladesh debutant Al-Amin Hossain finished with 2-31. Abdur Razak claimed 1-19 and Ziaur Rahman took 1-26.

Captain Mushfiqur Rahim top-scored for Bangladesh with 50, Mahmudullah added 34 and Nasir Hossain scored 28.

Tim Southee returned 3-38 and Corey Anderson took 2-21.

Earlier, Colin Munro and Anton Devcich hit half-centuries as New Zealand posted 204-5.

Munro returned unbeaten on 73 off 39 balls to lift New Zealand to their second-highest total in T20 cricket behind the 214-6 against Australia in 2010.

Munro, a 26-year old left-hander, entertained the crowd at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium with three fours and five sixes.

Debutant Devcich had given the tourists a flying start with 59 off 31 balls before he fell to left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak.

Bangladesh rued their poor catching as debutant Al-Amin Hossin dropped Devcich off Mashrafe Mortaza on six in the first over of the innings.

Al-Amin made amends by grabbing two wickets in the final over to finish with 2-31 in his four overs.

Earlier, New Zealand have won the toss and opted to bat.

New Zealand handed top-order batsman Anton Devcich a Twenty20 debut, while Bangladesh picked uncapped paceman Al-Amin Hossain.
