Pallekele: Kusal Perera (57) and Tillakaratne Dilshan (59*) helped Sri Lanka win the 2nd T20I against New Zealand by 8 wickets to clinch the series 1-0.
Chasing a moderate total of 143, they got off to a scintillating start with Kushal Perera firing on all cylinders. Dilshan gave him good support and allowed the younster to call the shots. Both batsmen completed their fifties and it was Dilshan's 6th consecutive 50+ score in T20 format.
New Zealand fielding let them down badly as they dropped Kushal twice and the ground fielding also was not up to the mark.
Earlier, Luke Ronchi hit an unbeaten 34 off 25 balls to steer New Zealand to 142-7.
The Black Caps were reduced to 62-4 by the 11th over after being sent in to bat by Sri Lankan captain Dinesh Chandimal before Ronchi led a rescue act.
He put on 31 for the fifth wicket with Colin Munro (17) and 45 for the sixth with Nathan McCullum, who smashed 26 off 16 balls with three boundaries.
Ronchi hit three fours and a six to give Black Caps a fair chance of winning their last match on the short limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka that has been marred by bad weather.
