Pakistan Tumble Towards Series Defeat

Colombo: Pakistan, set a victory target of 271 runs, were 127-7 at stumps on the fourth day of the second and final Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Sunday.

Pakistan has amassed 127 so far for the loss of seven wickets in their second innings. Wicketkeeper batsman Sarfraz Ahmed will resume batting on his individual score of 38 on the final day of the second Test. Ahmed would be helped on the crease by Wahab Riaz, who remained unbeaten on two.

Sri Lanka's former skippers Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene lost their wickets at their individual scores of 59 and 54 respectively. They were caught by Azhar Ali and Ahmed Shehzad respectively. Both batsmen were facing off-break bowler Saeed Ajmal.

Ajmal also claimed the wicket of Lahiru Thirmane for his individual score of 10.

Paceman Wahab Riaz claimed wicketkeeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella's wicket as well Dilruwan Perera and Rangana Herath. Dickwella lost his wicket on his individual score of 21, while both Perera and Herath were out for a duck.

Dhamikila Prasad was run out on his individual score of 19, while Chanaka Welegegada was run out for a duck. Skipper Angelo Mathews remained unbeaten on 43.

For Pakistan, openers Khurram Manzoor and Shehzad failed to contribute much to the opening score. Both were out on their individual scores of 10 and eight while facing fast bowler Prasad.

Jayawardene caught Azhar Ali on his individual score of 10 off Herath's delivery, while Younis Khan was 'lbw' on eight facing the left-arm orthodox bowler.

Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq only managed to score three runs before he too lost his wicket, as Jayawardene caught him off Herath's delivery. Asad Shafiq managed to score 32 before being caught behind the stumps by Dickwella off Herath's delivery again.

Abdur Rehman lost his wicket for five runs while facing Perera.

Pakistan's wicketkeeper batsman Ahmed and bowler Riaz will resume batting on the final day of the second Test. Sri Lanka currently leads the two-match Test series by 1-0.
