First Test in Adelaide From December 9

Brisbane: Adelaide will host the first Test between Australia and India starting on December 9 while Brisbane will host the second Test on December 17, ending days of speculation over the future of the four-Test series that had to be delayed following the death of batsman Phillip Hughes.

The New Years' Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground - where Hughes was struck by the fatal blow - has also been pushed back and will now begin on January 6, while the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground would go on as it is.

"The series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will now commence in Adelaide on the revised date of Tuesday 9 December," Cricket Australia said in a statement. "The Sydney Test has also been shifted as a result with its start date moving to January 6 to allow for a six-day break for players towards the end of a busy series."

The touring Indian team will also play a warm-up game on December 4-5 in Adelaide, after their second warm-up game, which was scheduled for November 28-29 had to be called off. The rejigged schedule was agreed upon by officials from Cricket Australia, the Australian Cricketers' Association and the BCCI.

India's squad, which was to leave for Brisbane on Monday, had chosen to stay in Adelaide until the details of the revised schedule was made official, and CA's chief executive James Sutherland also thanked the BCCI and the Indian team for complying with the changes.

The revised tour itinerary:

First Test: Adelaide - December 9-13
Second Test: Brisbane - December 17-21
Third Test: Melbourne - December 26-30
Fourth Test: Sydney - January 6-10
