Australia tri-series 2015

Tri-series - First Two Games Changed

Sydney: Instead of an Australia v India clash in Melbourne, the ODI tri-series in the new year will begin with Ashes rivals Australia and England playing at the Sydney Cricket Ground on January 16.

The swapping of Australia's opponents for the series opener has been done following Cricket Australia's rescheduling of the Test series on Monday following the tragic death of Phil Hughes last week.

Per the original scheduling, the tri-series was set to begin with Australia playing India at the MCG and then facing England in Sydney two days later. These two matches have now been directly swapped, with the SCG hosting the opener and the MCG the second.

In a press release Tuesday, CA said the swap was taken "to provide the Indian players appropriate recovery time after the tour match which follows the Sydney Test".

England's pre-series preparations include fixtures against an ACT XI at Manuka Oval on January 12 and versus the Prime Minister's XI on January 14.

Earlier on Tuesday, CA announced that pre-purchased tickets for the rescheduled Brisbane Test will be valid for the fixture now slated as the second match from December 17.
