CA XI v Indians, warm-up, Adelaide

Batsmen, Ishant Shins in Final Warm-up

Adelaide: Most of the Indian batsmen got some crucial time in the middle before Ishant Sharma took two wickets in a lively afternoon burst on the second day of the final tour game against a Cricket Australia XI at Gliderol Stadium.

The tourists were bowled out for 375, a lead of 132, and in reply the home team were 83/5 when the match ended in a predictable draw.

Resuming on an overnight score of 99/2, Murali Vijay and skipper Virat Kohli duly got to their half-centuries before they retired during the morning session to allow the middle order to have a bat.

Vijay made 60 from 136 balls - his second fifty in a row on tour - and Kohli a brisker 66 from 94, benefitting from being dropped first ball by his opposite number Ashton Turner at first slip on day one.

Vijay and Kohli shared a 123-run stand, steadying India's innings after the visitors had slumped to 36/2 the previous afternoon.

The batsmen to follow all spent valuable time at the crease, barring Suresh Raina who sped to 20 from 23 balls before steering his 24th to Jordan Silk low at slip and Ravindra Jadeja, who made 23 off 34 and was out edging Josh Lalor to the wicketkeeper.

Ajinkya Rahane retired on 56 after adding 103 with Rohit Sharma (48), who was run out in a moment of confusion with his partner who cut a ball from Sam Rainbird to point where Evan Gulbis cut it off and hit the stumps.

Saha was last out for 51 off 66 with eight fours, his second fifty on the trot.

Lalor was the most successful of the Australian bowlers, dismissing Shikhar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara on Thursday and adding Jadeja and Karn Sharma today to end with 4/59 in 17 overs.
