Cook, Stokes Ton Gives England Edge

London: Ben Stokes hit an 85-ball century - the fastest in Test history at Lord's - as England fought back in thrilling fashion against New Zealand.

England, who began the fourth day of the first Test trailing by 60, ended it 295 in front on 429-6.

Stokes's 101 complemented a fine unbeaten 153 from Alastair Cook.

Stokes hit 15 fours and three sixes as he dominated a 132-run fifth-wicket stand with captain Cook, who earlier added 148 with Root (84).

Only once have a side chased more than 282 in the fourth innings to win a Test at Lord's.
