Amit Mishra Recall for Sri Lanka Tests

New Delhi: India's selection committee, headed by Sandeep Patil, on Thursday, included leg-spinner Amit Mishra in the 15-man squad for the tour of Sri Lanka.

Mishra, 32, last played a Test in 2011 and he took legspinner Karn Sharma's place in the team that had travelled to Bangladesh in June. It was the only change to India's 15-man squad.

There were no major surprises in the Virat Kohli-led side with the exception of a debate surrounding the need for a leg-spinner in the side following Yasir Shah's success in Pakistan's win over Sri Lanka earlier this month.

Karn Sharma, who was part of the squad for the solitary Test against Bangladesh, was the only notable absentee having suffered a finger injury ahead of India's limited overs tour of Zimbabwe earlier this month.

KL Rahul, who missed the one-off Test against Bangladesh due to illness, returned to the squad.

India squad: Virat Kohli (capt), Murli Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Varun Aaron, R Ashwin, Harbhajan Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra, Rohit Sharma, Umesh Yadav, KL Rahul
