Babar and Hasan lead Pakistan to victory over West Indies

Guyana: Pakistan beat West Indies by 74 runs in the second ODI on Sunday to level the three-match series at 1-1. Babar Azam and Hasan Ali remained the main architects of this victory.

Put into bat by West Indies Captain Jason Holder, Pakistan posted 282/5 and then dismissed the hosts for 208 off 44.5 overs.

Babar Azam scored an unbeaten 125 and helped Pakistan post a competitive total. This was his fifth century in ODIs and fourth in five innings against the Caribbean side. He formed two important partnerships in his innings - third wicket partnership of 69 with Mohammad Hafeez (32) and an unbroken sixth-wicket stand of 99 with Imad Wasim (43).

S Gabriel took two wickets for West Indies.

Chasing down the victory target of 283, the home side kept lossing wickets at regular interval and never look in a position to win the match. Skipper Jason Holder remained the top-scorer for his team wich a knock of 68. He along with Ashley Nurse added 58-run for seventh-wicket stand.

For Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali finished with figures of 5-38 off 8.5 overs.

Both teams meet in the decider on Tuesday at the same venue with the West Indies seeking their first ODI series win over Pakistan for 26 years.
