Karachi: Naseem Shah at 16 years becomes the second youngest bowler in history to claim a five-wicket haul in a Test match.

Naseem, who will be playing the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2020 next month, scalped 5/31 in the fourth innings.

Former Pakistan spinner Nasim-ul-Ghani remains the youngest bowler to pick a five-wicket haul in Tests.

Nasim was 16 years and 303 days old when he scalped 5/116 against West Indies in 1958 while Naseem is 16 years and 307 days.

Interestingly, Naseem now becomes the youngest fast-bowler to pick a five-for as he surpasses compatriot Mohammad Amir (17y 257d).

So, the list of youngest bowlers to take five wickets in an innings is dominated by Pakistan players.

Coming back to Naseem, the youngster was handed his Test debut last month against Australia at Brisbane and he managed to pick just one wicket.

In the first Test against Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi, the youngster managed to pick two wickets after rains washed out the majority of the match.

Just last month when Naseem was with the Pakistan team on Australia’s tour, the young pacer suffered a personal loss as he lost his mother.

Naseem decided to stay with the team in Australia and did not return to Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Pakistan clinched the two-match series against Sri Lanka 1-0.

The hosts were bundled out for just 191 runs in their first innings and then declared at 555/3 in their second innings to set Sri Lanka 476 to win.

The visitors were bowled out for 212 as Pakistan won the series-decider. Pakistan was hosting a Test series at home after a gap of ten years.
