England v Sri Lanka, 3rd Test, Rose Bowl, 1st day

Anderson Back as England Opt to Bowl Against Sri Lanka

Southamton: England captain Andrew Strauss won the toss and elected to bowl first in the third and final Test against Sri Lanka at the Rose Bowl on Thursday.

The start was delayed by 75 minutes because of rain. England omitted Steven Finn for fellow fast bowler James Anderson, who had recovered from a side strain.

Sri Lanka made two changes, one of which was forced, as captain Tillakaratne Dilshan's broken thumb kept him out and he was replaced by Lahiru Thirimanne, who will make his debut. Kumar Sangakkara led the team, seven weeks after quitting the captaincy.

The tourists' other change saw the recall of Thisara Perera in place of fellow all-rounder Farveez Maharoof.

England lead the series 1-0 after winning at Cardiff. The second Test was drawn.
