Australia v West Indies, 3rd Test, 3rd day, Perth

Aussies Struggle After Bollinger Burst, Take Lead 345

Perth: Australia are 137/8 in just 47 overs, leading by 345 runs. 3rd day of third Test which saw 16 wickets fall and 235 runs scored. West Indies have shown a lot of fight and kept themselves in this contest with 7 wickets in that last session and some determined work in the field.

They would be hoping to come back out and run through the Australian tail early on tomorrow with enough time to chase down a total which would be around the 400 run mark. Australia would be disappointed that they could not dominate the bowling and pull away to a much bigger lead.

Fast bowler Doug Bollinger claimed a five-wicket haul and Nathan Hauritz bagged three as the visitors lost their last three wickets for two runs.

Overnight batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan fell first on the day. Bollinger struck in the second ball of the day as Sarwan edged a full length delivery outside the off stump to be caught by Hussey at gully for 42.

Deonarine was the next man to go. Watson, diving forward at short cover, took a brilliant catch inches off the ground after Deonarine hit a rising Johnson delivery. The Windies reached 280/4 at the lunch break.

Bravo, Nass and Benn returned to pavilion in quick succession shortly after play resumed in the middle session. Hauritz and Bollinger then polished off the tail for two runs.

Australia however, decided not to impose follow-on though the visitors were dismissed for 312, in reply to the hosts' 520/7 declared, in the first innings.

Australia: 520 for 7 dec & 137 for 8
West Indies: 312 (Gayle 102, Dowlin 55, Bollinger 5-70)
