Cardiff: Teenage fast bowler Josh Hazlewood is relishing the prospect of representing Australia once again after becoming his country's youngest one-day international cricketer.
The 19-year-old paceman from New South Wales made his debut in Australia's four-wicket loss to England at the Rose Bowl on Tuesday.
After a nervy start, which saw the 6ft 4in (1.96 metres) tall paceman's first ball full toss struck for four by Kevin Pietersen, Hazlewood showed what he could do by bowling opener Craig Kieswetter with an off-cutter on his way to figures of one wicket for 41 runs from seven overs.
Now Hazlewood, only in England after Mitchell Johnson was ruled out of the one-day leg of the tour with an elbow injury, is hoping to get another chance to prove his worth in the remaining four matches of the series, starting with a day/nighter at Cardiff's Sophia Gardens on Thursday.
"I found out just before the warm-up I was going to play," Hazlewood told reporters at Australia's hotel here on Wednesday.
"You realise where you are when you get hit for a boundary first ball. Bowling to Kevin Pietersen was a great experience and hopefully I am better off for it.
"Probably the first over or two I was a bit nervous, but the other quicks Dougie (Bollinger) and (Ryan) Harris were very helpful. I try to swing the ball and move it, otherwise it's pretty easy for the batters.
It's still a massive learning curve and a great opportunity to show what I can do. I've got youth on my side and with some of the other quicks being out you've got to make sure you make your mark with every opportunity you get.
