India Announced Venues Against Sri Lanka

New Delhi: Sidelined by the BCCI for more than two years, Kolkata will host a One-Day International next month after the Board's Tour, Programme and Fixture Committee awarded the city one of India's five ODIs against Sri Lanka.

The committee met to finalise the venues for the series, which will also comprise three Test matches and a couple of Twenty20 games.

However, the dates for the series, scheduled from the second week of November, will be announced at a later date.

"The exact date of the Tests, ODIs and T20 matches will be announced in due course," BCCI secretary N Srinivasan said in a statement after the meeting.

Mumbai, Kanpur and Ahmedabad will host the three Tests, while the Twenty20 games would be played in Mohali and Nagpur.

The other four One-dayers would be played in Cuttack, Rajkot, Vishakhapatnam and Delhi.

The last time a One-dayer was played in Kolkata was back in February 2007 and even on that occassion, the Lankans were the visting team.

However, Kolkata has not hosted a Test since Pakistan played here in December 2007.

The city has fallen out of favour with the current BCCI regime which is at loggerheads with the Jagmohan Dalmiya-led Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).

Venues:

  • Tests: Mumbai, Kanpur, Ahmedabad
  • ODIs: Cuttack, Rajkot, Vishakhapatnam, Kolkata, Delhi
  • Twenty20: Mohali, Nagpur.
