India v Australia Nagpur Test, Day 1 IND 311 For 5

Nagpur: MS Dhoni has won the toss and chose to bat against Australia in the deciding Test of the Border-Gavaskar series at the VCA Stadium here. M Vijay makes his Test debut as Harbhajan is back to the team and in Aussie JJ Krejza test debut while Stuart Clark out from squad.

Last half an hour Sachin Tendulkar out by Johnson for 109 (188b, 12x4). It landed on the leg and middle line on a length and moved towards middle, Tendulkar was caught on the shuffle and pushed outside the line. It would have taken out the middle stump. Fine innings, with a touch of luck at the end, comes to an end.

Krejza (3-138) double-strike pegs back India after 98 runs stand for opening parternship. Three overs into Jason Krejza's first Test bowling spell, Virender Sehwag was taking him apart, and the decision to play him ahead of Stuart Clark seemed a big mistake, but two quick wickets justified his selection.

  • 91 fifty-plus scores (40 hundreds and 51 fifties) made by Tendulkar - a new record now. Australia's Allan Border, with a tally of 90 fifty plus innings (27 hundreds and 63 fifties) held the previous record. This was Sachin's 40th Test ton, and 10th against Aussie.

    Off-spinner Jason Krejza grabbed two big wickets in three overs to lead Australia's fightback in the fourth and final Test against India here on Thursday.

    Laxman joins the exclusive club of cricketers who have played in 100 or more Tests during the ongoing final Test against Oz. VVS Laxman 64 (141b, 5x4) falls to a faulty stroke after 146 runs partnership with Sachin.

    At stumps, Ganguly is looking very solid and Dhoni is new to the crease. Sehwag 66 (69b, 9x4, 1x6) started the assault, Vijay made a promising 33 (53b, 2x4), Laxman looked in no problem and Tendulkar made a fine 40th hundred. He was helped along the way by the butter-fingered Aussies.
