Indian Seamers Restricted Bangladesh to 233

Mirpur: After Indian pacers restricted Bangladesh to 233, the visitors were 69/0 at stumps of the first day's play in the second Test in Mirpur.

It was a fantastic day for the tourists, they first bowled out Bangladesh for 233 and then came in to play out the remaining overs without losing any wickets. Sehwag (41*) and Gambhir (26*) played their shots without much hesitation and got India off to a flying start. Bangladesh will have their work cut out against a strong Indian batting line-up tomorrow on a batting friendly wicket.

Earlier, India bowled out Bangladesh for 233 in their first innings on the first day of the second cricket Test here Sunday.

Mohammad Mahmudullah compiled an aggressive unbeaten 96 to help steady the Bangladesh innings to 233 after a top-order collapse.

After Bangladesh resumed at lunch on 84 for 5, Mahmudullah anchored the innings with 13 boundaries in his 156-ball knock.

Bangladesh lost Mushfiqur Rahim lbw for 30 to Ishant Sharma and captain Shakib Al Hasan was caught behind off Zaheer Khan for 34 in the second session, while Shahadat Hossain (8) was stumped by Mahendra Singh Dhoni off Pragyan Ojha.

Bangladesh lost five top order wickets for just 51 runs to open the first session after winning the toss and opting to bat first at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

First to go was Imrul Kayes for a duck, caught behind off Sharma (3-65). Kaye's opening partner Tamim Iqbal (0) was then bowled by Khan (3-54), who had Junaed Siddique caught behind for 8 shortly after.

Mohammad Ashraful scored 39 before being dismissed in Ojha's first over. Ashraful came down the pitch, but missed the ball and was easily stumped by Dhoni. The shot came just after Ashraful hit Ojha for a boundary.

Raqibul Hasan (4) was caught by Rahul Dravid off a Sharma delivery to leave Bangladesh struggling on 51-5.

Ishant Sharma (4-66) and Zaheer Khan (3-66) were the chief wicket-takers.

Mahmudullah was the top-scorer for the hosts, remaining unbeaten on 96.

India captain Dhoni returns to the team after recovering from back spasms, while spinner Harbhajan Singh is also back in the XI after being dropped from the first test due to injury.

India leads the series 1-0 after beating Bangladesh by 113 runs at Chittagong on Thursday.
