Mumbai Indians' Jacobs Ruled Out From CLT20

Bangalore: The injury woes of Mumbai Indians are far from over. Soon they may have to seek another exemption and perhaps avail of the services of members of their coaching staff such as Shaun Pollock and Jonty Rhodes.

For, on Monday, they lost the services of yet another player, with wicketkeeper-batsman Davy Jacobs ruled out of the tournament with a hip injury that he sustained at the nets on Sunday.

Given his dual role, Jacobs's loss will certainly hit the team bad, with the only solace being that they have at least a couple of more foreigners to choose from, Kiwi all-rounder James Franklin, stepping in for the game against Trinidad & Tobago on Monday.

The injury to Jacobs happened while he was batting at the nets on Sunday. Despite being stretchered off, with as many as six people needed for the lift off, the word from the Mumbai camp on Sunday was that all was fine and that Jacobs would take the field on Monday.

It was also learnt that a local hospital had rushed an ambulance to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium only for the staff to be told that it was nothing serious and Jacobs was being attended to by the MI physio.

Why the great secrecy with an injury that happened out in the open will remain a mystery.

It finally turned out to be a hip injury that will take some time to heal. Whether MI can heal themselves quickly after yet another injury to a player, remains to be seen. The team sure is being stretched to the hilt and not just by the opposition.
