Praveen Kumar Out of Australia Tests

New Delhi: India have been dealt a blow ahead of tough tour of Australia with injured medium-pacer sidelined for five to six weeks.

The star of the show in England and West Indies, has been diagnosed with a fractured rib, which will see him miss out on at least five or six weeks of cricketing action which means he won't play a part in the West Indies ODI series and the all important Test series in Australia.

Praveen had a scan on Monday that revealed the fracture. A replacement will be named on December 5, when the selectors get together in Ahmedabad to pick the team for the remaining two ODIs, said a BCCI release.

On Monday, the BCCI had informed that Praveen Kumar would be ruled out for the first three ODIs due to a blunt chest and they had named Abhimanyu Mithun as his replacement.

Clearly, now it appears that the selectors were completely clueless about Praveen's original injury. Praveen had also suffered an ankle injury in England which forced him to miss the fourth Test at the Oval.

He played in the ODI series against England and injured his elbow again in the T20 international in Kolkata.
