Guyana v South Australia, CLT20 2010, Johannesburg

Redbacks beat Guyana by 15 runs, Stay on Top

Johannesburg: Unbeaten Southern Redbacks, who have already qualified for the semifinals, beat Guyana by 15 runs in the Champions League Twenty20 encounter.

South Australia had already strolled into the semi-finals and seemingly had little to gain against the also-rans from Guyana in their final league match, but still benefited as their largely untested middle-order got a thorough and much-needed workout in Johannesburg.

The Guyanese dug-out is disappointed. But it has been a brave fight from them. After going for 191, not many would have predicted them to reach 176, but they have done so and can be proud of themselves.

After Dowlin's early dismissal, the top order did well, keeping their team in the hunt with useful knocks. Sarwan led from the front with a classy 70 from 46 balls, putting notions to rest that he cannot do well in this format.

The bowling was not at its best today and Harris was the surprise package with 3 wickets while Daniel Christian, as usual, contributed his bit, with 2 wickets.

Is reasonably happy with his performance and says that the target was a big one and they were sure that if they bowled well, they could close the game down. Is enjoying the conditions here and is looking forward for the semi-finals.

Ramnaresh Sarwan gets the highest run scorer of the match award for his brilliant knock of 70. Callum Ferguson gets the man of the match award for his 55 from 37 balls.
