Sehwag's Hamstring Strain Has Team India Worried

Dambulla: The Indian team management has its fingers crossed over the fitness of opener Virender Sehwag, who sustained a hamstring injury during the thrilling win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup in Dambulla.

The swashbuckling opener pulled his right hamstring in India's pulsating one-ball-to-spare win over Pakistan. Sehwag was in pain during his his 30-ball stay at the wicket and was assisted by Suresh Raina as a runner.

However, the team management is hopeful that Sehwag would recover in time for the matches against Sri Lanka, including the June 24 final.

With there being no specialist opener in the reserves, India would have to promote either Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma to open the innings in Sehwag's absence.

"He has pulled his hamstring. The physio has been taking care of him, But we will take a call on his fitness tomorrow," said team manager Ranjib Biswal.

Biswal, however, said pacer Ashish Nehra, who was nursing back spasms, is completely fit now. "Nehra had back spasms during the first match. But he has recovered completely and should be ready for the games against Sri Lanka," said Biswal.
