Younis Khan Ready to Play Twenty20 Again

Dubai: Barely four months after he bid adieu to T20 cricket after leading his team to win the coveted ICC T20 World Championship, Pakistan One-day captain Younis Khan has expressed his desire to play in the bang-bang version of the game once again.

Khan, who is currently in Dubai for the three match One-day series against New Zealand, said he is ready to come out of retirement to play in the two T20 games against the Kiwis.

"If team needs me and since matches are to be held in Dubai, it will be nice to play here," The News quoted Khan, as saying.

Khan said he is ready to appear in the shortest version of the game if the team needs his services.

"If they still want and if my country still needs my service for this form of game, then I am ready. I will do anything for my country and for my teammates. So you may see me in T20 cricket again," he said.

Commenting on the recent controversy surrounding the national squad and the match-fixing allegations levelled against him, Khan said he is much relieved after having countered all problems successfully and thanked his fans for supporting him in adverse conditions.

"I have just come out of a huge controversy. This time my whole nation was behind me. I am happy each and every one in Pakistan backed me in the incident. Today my mind is free and I can concentrate on my captaincy and on my form as well as the team,' he said.

Khan had already given a hint that he may come out of retirement few days ago.

Khan said he considered himself 'too old' for the fast-paced format of the game, but if his teammates and his fans wanted, he is ready for another stint.

"If my fellow players accept me and the nation wants me then I will come back to play Twenty20 internationals," he said earlier last week.
