BCCI Wants Only Two Tests During South Africa Tour

New Delhi: The Indian cricket board (BCCI) has asked its South African counterpart (CSA) to change the proposed schedule of India's tour of South Africa beginning in November this year.

According to sources, BCCI sent a written communication to CSA on Thursday, saying India is keen on playing only two Tests, five one-dayers and two T20 internationals during the series starting this November. "A communication to this effect has gone to CSA," a board source claimed.

CSA had earlier released a schedule announcing three Tests, seven ODIs and two T20s which the Indian board had objected to as it had not been consulted on the itinerary.

BCCI officials refused to confirm this development officially, but interim-president Jagmohan Dalmiya hinted that the final schedule could be decided in and around the working committee meeting, which is scheduled to be held in Kolkata on Sunday.

"We haven't taken a final call on the tour as of now," Dalmiya said.

Sources said that a section in the BCCI wanted even a further cut in the number of matches as a measure of protest against the newly-appointed CEO of CSA Haroon Lorgat.

Some members are so angry with Lorgat that they wanted the tour to be cut down to 2 Tests and three ODIs, which is the bare minimum requirement for a bilateral series under ICC's Future Tours Programme.

CSA's reaction is expected to come before Sunday's working committee of the BCCI in Kolkata.
