Kandamby Recall for First Three ODIs Against England

Colombo: Batsman Thilina Kandamby has been recalled to the Sri Lankan side after three years while spinner Dilruwan Perera, who last played ODI cricket in 2008, has also found a place in the 15-man side named for the first three matches against England on Monday.

All-rounder Jeevan Mendis, also known for his lower-order hitting apart from his handy legspin, also made a return after a year in the wilderness.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Chandimal and pacer Nuwan Kulasekara were not part of the squad after failing to impress in the five-match ODI series in India.

Also left out were Suraj Randiv, Seekkuge Prasanna, Ashan Priyanjan and Chaturanga de Silva. Shaminda Eranga, who had made a comeback during the India series, was retained in Kulasekara's place.

Sri Lanka will face England over seven one-day internationals and captain Angelo Mathews had already hinted that the management would now look to finalise the players who would eventually make up the squad for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand early next year.

While Rangana Herath returned to the squad after being rested for the India tour. Lasith Malinga and the banned Sachithra Senanayake, who could return to the squad later in the series if cleared by the ICC in time.
