Bangladesh v Zimbabwe, 4th T20I, Khulna

Masakadza Fifty Help Zimbabwe Level Series

Khulna: A record-breaking innings from Hamilton Masakadza took Zimbabwe to an 18-run victory over Bangladeshin the fourth and final Twenty20 International in Khulna on Friday

The win meant Zimbabwe clawed back from 2-0 down to end the series on even terms.

Masakadza hit 93 off 58 balls, the highest for a Zimbabwe batsman in a T20I, as it reached 180 for 4. His good work was added to by Neville Madziva, who took 4 for 34 as Bangladesh was dismissed for 162 in 19 overs.

Mahmudullah top scored for Bangladesh with 54 off 41 balls, but Zimbabwe was always in control after Madziva and Tendai Chisoro had claimed two wickets apiece in their opening spells to reduce the home side to 17 for 4.

Mahmudullah and Imrul Kayes (18) steadied the innings before Nurul Hasan (15) and Mashrafe Mortaza (22) gave Bangladesh a faint glimmer of hope. But Madziva sealed the victory with two wickets in his final spell.

Masakadza, who had equalled his personal best of 79 in the opening match of the series, struck eight fours and five sixes in an unbeaten knock that ensured Zimbabwe compiled an imposing total.

Much of the damage came during a second-wicket partnership of 80 between Masakadza and Richmond Mutumbami before Abu Hider, the rookie left-arm pacer, bowled Mutumbami for 32 with a brilliant yorker and Taskin Ahmed took the wicket of Malcolm Waller for 36. Waller, Man of the Match in Zimbabwe's 31-run victory in Wednesday's third T20I, had again looked dangerous in an 18-ball innings before he was bowled.

But Masakadza was not about to slow down on the day, and the win must come as a big boost for Zimbabwe ahead of the upcoming ICC World Twenty20 2016 in India in March-April.
