London: England win a rain-delayed toss and bat first in the opening Test against South Africa at The Oval on Thursday

England confirmed Tim Bresnan in the starting XI.

That weather again tried to have an impact on proceedings as a dark cloud came across the ground just as the captains prepared for the toss at 10.30 and led to a 20-minute delay and the start time was pushed back to 11.15
