Christchurch: The Kiwi slide started when captain Brendon McCullum was run out. Jesse Ryder flicked to mid-wicket and went for a quick single, Suresh Raina came in swiftly and threw the ball back to Dhoni to run out McCullum who hit 3 sixes and 6 fours in his superb 68-ball 71.

The Kiwis lost their second wicket when Ross Taylor (7) padded to short fine leg and ran for a single, but Ryder refused, Yuvraj Singh made a flat return and Mahendra Singh Dhoni flicked the ball back on to the stump to make it 179/2.

Earlier, New Zealand part time captain McCullam won the toss and calls Indian for bat But Riding on magnificent knocks by Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Dhoni and Suresh Raina, India scored 392/4 in their 50 overs.

Raina hit 5 sixes in his 18-ball unbeaten knock of 38 and Tim Southee bore the maximum brunt of the Indian onslaught conceding 105 runs in their 10 overs and this is the highest total by any team in New Zealand.

India lost their fourth wicket when Dhoni edged a Kyle Mill delivery high up in the air for keeper Peter McGlashan to take the catch after Sachin Tendulkar retired hurt on 163 leaving India at 338/3 in 45 overs.

Sachin went off the field after pulling his muscle during his superb knock that came off 133 balls and was studded with 5 sixes and 16 fours. Ge hit his 43rd century, his first in New Zealand, to take India towards a huge total.

Dhoni reached his 30th ODI fifty with a huge six over long on off 45 balls with the help of 3 fours and 2 sixes. He reached the milestone shortly after the Master Blaster reached his 150 with a six over the covers.
