Mascarenhas Fined, Banned for Twitter Rant

London: The England and Wales Cricket Board has banned former England all-rounder Dimitri Mascarenhas for two weeks for making a profane comment on Twitter aimed at national selector Geoff Miller.

The suspension will begin at the start of the 2011 season and covers all cricket under the jurisdiction of the ECB. Mascarenhas, who admitted to breaching ECB directives and bringing the game into disrepute, has also been fined 500 pounds ($780).

Mascarenhas has already been fined by county side Hampshire for his foul-mouthed rant directed at Miller on the social networking site on September 5.

The 32-year-old Mascarenhas played for both of England's limited-overs teams last year but has not featured for his country in the past 12 months.
