New Zealand Offers to Tour Pakistan

Islamabad: New Zealand has offered to play cricket matches against Pakistan to raise funds for those affected by floods that have devastated the Asian country.

At least eight million people in Pakistan are in need of water, shelter or other emergency assistance.

Pakistan Cricket Board spokesman Nadeem Sarwar says that New Zealand Cricket has expressed its willingness to play in the country.

The Zimbabwe Cricket Union is also planning to send its national team to Pakistan to raise funds for relief efforts.

Dates of both tours are yet to be finalized. Cricket tours of Pakistan were abandoned after the Sri Lanka team's convoy was attacked by gunmen last year. Six police officers and a van driver were killed, and Sri Lanka players and officials were injured.
