Oliver Hardaker Scores 'Record' 329 in One-day Match

London: A teenage cricketer has smashed what is believed to be the world record for the highest score ever recorded in a one-day match.

Eighteen-year-old Oliver Hardaker blasted 329 not out off 144 balls in a 40-over Sunday league match, reports the Mirror. He scored 27 sixes and 28 fours on what he described as "the best day of my life". His innings provided nearly 80 per cent of Horsforth's total of 419-5 against Upper Wharfedale.

The player has a trial with Yorkshire U-19s later this summer, and hopes that his record-breaking exploits will help him earn a professional contract.

"I offered only one chance when I was on 140," he said. The world record one-day score in international cricket, of course, is held by Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 200 not out off 147 balls against South Africa this year.
