Rahul Dravid Reached 12,000 Test Runs

Centurion: Senior Indian batsman Rahul Dravid on Sunday became only the third player in history to score 12,000 Test runs when he reached 43 during the first Test match against South Africa.

Dravid, who went into the first Test needing 57 to touch 12,000 runs, had scored 14 in the first innings and he was out on 43 in India's second essay on Sunday.

The 37-year-old is third in the all-time list behind top-placed Indian icon Sachin Tendulkar (14,422) and Australian captain Ricky Ponting (12,333).

During India's first innings, Dravid had become the third highest Test run-getter, surpassing former West Indian captain Brian Lara (11,953).

Dravid, who is playing in his 148th Test, has scored 31 centuries and 59 half centuries and averages 53.31.
