Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Out of IPL4; Kochi Spared For Now

New Delhi: Indian Premier League governing council terminated the franchise agreements with the Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab even though the Kochi franchise was spared for now.

The Kochi franchise has been issued a notice and asked to settle internal differences.

The IPL 4 auction has been rescheduled to January 2001.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the IPL governing council in Mumbai.

The three franchise teams Rajasthan Royals, Kings Eleven Punjab and newly-bought Kochi -- were given show cause notices by BCCI on September 29 as they had not complied with the rules governing the franchisers.

The board has also decided to hold the player auctions in the last week of November.

Earlier, the Kochi IPL franchise, co-owned by a host of investors from various backgrounds had thrown in the towel after failing to resolve internal differences, it is learnt. The buzz is that franchise owners themselves are willing to withdraw after having come to the conclusion that they cannot work together.
