Sidebottom to Use ODIs to Get Back to Tests

London: Ryan Sidebottom who has not played in any of the Tests this summer, says that he will use the One-day format to become a successful five-day player once more this winter.

Sidebottom, however, must prove his form and fitness in England's 13 limited-overs matches in the next month, reports the Telegraph.

He bowled well in the Twenty20 showdown against Australia at Old Trafford on Sunday before the rain arrived.

Sidebottom's four overs at the start and end of the innings cost just 31 runs.

Another decent performance in the second T20 game in Manchester tonight would do his cause no harm.

He said: "It's been frustrating watching England win and other bowlers performing well. That was tough. You don't want guys to be injured or not do well but, from a selfish point of view, it's been gutting. For 18 months to two years, I had a great time for England. But since then it's been very frustrating."

"I kept in touch with the lads during the summer - I have great mates around the dressing room. I'm happy for them but, from a jealousy point of view, I would have loved to be involved in The Ashes. I wasn't and I've just got to get on with it," he added.

"With Freddie retiring and Harmy thinking about it, that might help me. But these One-dayers and the Champions Trophy in South Africa at the end of September are vital for me," Sidebottom - who has 77 wickets in 21 Tests, said
