Napier: Jesse Ryder's magnificent second century and his record partnership with Ross Taylor for the fourth wicket took New Zealand to 351/4 at stumps in the second Test against India at McLean Park in Napier on Thursday.

Ryder hit 17 fours and a six in his unbeaten 137-run knock and holding fort at the crease with him is James Franklin (26).

The record 271-run partnership between Ryder and Taylor revived the New Zealand innings from a disastrous position of 23/3.

Harbhajan Singh finally got India the fourth breakthrough when he dismissed Ross Taylor to put New Zealand at 294/4.

The breakthrough came when Taylor tries to slog sweep the doosra across the line but top edged it to deep square leg for Yuvraj Singh to take the catch.

Taylor's magnificent innings of 151 was studded with a six and 26 fours and his record 271-run partnership with Jesse Ryder resuced his team who were once tottering at 23/3.

Ishant Sharma struck in the eighth over dimissing Tim McIntosh to put New Zealand at 21/1. Zaheer set up How's dismissal superbly by bowling a couple of deliveries across the batsman and then bringing one back in for the wicket.

Zaheer struck on the first delivery of his sixth over when Martin Guptill (8) gloved a bouncer to gully where Virender Sehwag dived forward to take the catch. And next over Zaheer struck again

The breakthrough came after New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori won the toss and elected to bat first. A big setback for India is that Mahendra Singh Dhoni is not playing, as he is suffering from a back problem. It was Virender Sehwag who went out for the toss and Dinesh Karthik is the keeper. This is the only change for India.

Fielding of India's team is very poor, total 7 catches drop by Indians.

Brief Score: New Zealand 351/4 (Ross Taylor 151, Jesse Ryder 137*, Zazeer 2-94) vs India.
