Cape Cobras v Trinidad & Tobago, CLT20, Chennai

Trinidad & Tobago Beat Cape Cobras in a Thriller

Chennai: Kevon Cooper's late blitz propelled Trinidad and Tobago to a three-wicket win against the Nashua Cape Cobras who thus got knocked out of the Champions League T20 tournament here Tuesday.

For someone who has played only T20s in his career so far, turning adversity into opportunity must be a habit. 22-year-old Keevon Cooper, who walked into the middle with the scoreboard reading 103-6 and less than four overs to go, simply took the sting out of the Cobras.

With a brilliant cameo of 25 runs off 11 deliveries, the Trinidad & Tobago all-rounder handed his side a two-wicket win over Cape Cobras here on Tuesday. It was a repeat of his 28 off 10 balls in his side's last match.

With this loss, the tournament is done and dusted for the Cobras who finished on three points while T&T now have four points with a NRR of +0.176.

Chasing 138 to win at an asking rate of close to seven runs per over, T&T batsmen huffed and puffed initially. Halfway through their innings, T&T had already lost four wickets before Cooper's exploits.

For a side which may never have been touted favourites, T&T have come out with flying colours beating the top teams. Having lost their first two encounters by the skin of their teeth, they shocked Chennai Super Kings by 12 runs at home on Sunday.

Probably, what lends the side an extra kick of adrenalin is the fact that it's the only team in the tournament to represent a nation.
