MCC v Pakistan, Twenty20, Lord's

Umar Akmal Stars as Pakistan Overcome MCC Blizzard

London: Umar Akmal made 51 as Pakistan began their tour of England with a narrow six-run win over MCC in a Twenty20 match at Lord's on Sunday.

Akmal's innings was at the heart of Pakistan's 165 for five, an innings where former New Zealand one-day specialist Chris Harris took three wickets for 26 runs.

MCC, in reply, came close thanks mainly to a dashing 73 from Victoria's Aiden Blizzard.

The 26-year-old put on 94 with West Indies great Brian Lara, who made a 32-ball 37 on his return to competitive cricket.

But once Lara was out, MCC's challege fell away and Blizzard was bowled in the last over by left-armer quick Mohammad Aamer to end a 59-ball innings featuring three sixes and six fours.

Fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar took two wickets for 19 runs in his four overs.

Pakistan will play Australia in two Twenty20 internationals on July 5 and 6 at Edgbaston before playing two Tests against the same opponents at Lord's and Headingley.

After playing Australia, Pakistan will feature in four Tests, two Twenty20 and five one-day games against England. The tour ends on September 22.
