Swann Back Home From India Tour

Mumbai: Graeme Swann has flown home from England's tour of India because his daughter is unwell, the English and Wales Cricket Board has said.

The 33-year-old spinner has returned to the UK in order to see her, and to support his family.

Swann is due to return to India ahead of the first Test in Ahmedabad, which starts on 15 November.

The ECB said: "This is a personal matter and we would ask for everyone to give Graeme and his family privacy."

The statement continued: "We will not be making any further comment at this time."

Swann took three wickets in England's opening draw with India A but did not play in the second match against Mumbai A, which also finished as a draw.

Swann's trip home will not be the only one taken by an England player this winter as batsman Ian Bell, 30, is planning to fly back during the second Test to be at the birth of his first child.
