Suranga Lakmal to Miss Rest of ODI Series

Chester-le-Street: Sri Lanka medium-pacer Suranga Lakmal will miss the rest of the one-day series against England after tearing a muscle in his hamstring.

He was replaced by Dhammika Prasad in the playing XI for the second ODI on Sunday that Sri Lanka went on to win by 157 runs.

Medium-pacer Shaminda Eranga has been called up as his replacement for the remaining ODIs.

Lakmal sustained the injury during the first ODI at The Oval on Thursday and was ruled out of the second game of the five-match series at Chester-le-Street on Sunday. The 27-year-old will return to Sri Lanka to receive treatment and is expected to be back for the Test series. The two-match Test series between the two teams starts June 12.

Earlier, batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan had also suffered from a groin strain during the first ODI but he cleared a fitness test to play in the second ODI in which he top scored with 88 runs to help his team draw level.
