Dhoni Retires from Test Cricket

Melbourne: MS Dhoni has retired from Test cricket with immediate effect following the drawn Test against Australia at the MCG.

Virat Kohli will take over as India captain for the final Test of the series, which India has already lost, in Sydney.

He will, however, continue to play ODIs and T-20 internationals marches.

India managed to draw the third Test but it ensured Australia won the four-Test series 2-0 with the fourth and final Test remaining to be played in Sydney.

"One of India's greatest Test captains under whose leadership India became the No. 1 team in the Test Rankings, MS Dhoni, has decided to retire from Test cricket citing the strain of playing all formats of cricket," BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel said in the statement.

"Dhoni has chosen to retire from Test cricket with immediate effect in order to concentrate on ODI and T20 formats."

"(The) BCCI, while respecting the decision of Dhoni to retire from Test cricket, wishes to thank him for his enormous contribution to Test cricket and the laurels that he has brought to India."
