Shahzad Fifty Powers to Level the series 2-2

Bulawayo: Afghanistan bag a well deserved victory over the host team Zimbabwe in 4th ODI in Bulawayo on Thursday to level the series 2-2.

Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bat first but couldn’t to justice to the decision as the batsmen failed miserably while exposed to the Afghan bowling action.

None of the batsmen, apart from Sikandar Raza, could score beyond 50 and they put up an achievable total of 184 which was effortlessly chased down by Afghanistan.

The whole Afghanistan team contributed to the victory that was a must to stay in the series.

Afghan bowler Dawlat Zadran proved to be lethal as he produced the first breakthrough real fast and Rashid Khan followed his footsteps.

Zimbabwe team failed to revive from the attack and wickets kept falling in regular intervals.

The only player who went past the 50 run mark was Sikandar Raza. He scored a commendable 86 off 113 and got out in the last over of Zimbabwe’s innings. After full 50 overs play, Zimbabwe’s score read 184-8.

A score that needed to be well defended by the bowlers and fielders never looked to be a burden to the visitors.

Afghanistan’s first wicket came after 15 overs as opener Noor Ali Zadran departed making 23.

But the other opener Mohammad Shahzad became the hero of the match as he scored 8 runs off the 81 balls he faced. The innings included 7 fours and 3 sixes. The much needed wickets came after 40 overs of Afghanistan’s innings but by the time the team had almost sealed the match.

Finally, Rashid Khan hit a sixer to finish the match on a winning note for his team. Mohammad Shahzad was handed over the Man of the Match award
