Australia Players Report Bookie Approach

London: The team management of the visiting Australian cricket team has filed a report with the ICC Anti-Corruption and Security Unit after one of their players were reportedly approached by a suspected 'bookie' last month, according to reports.

A report claimed that a Australian player was approached in the bar of the team's hotel during the Lord's Test and the cricketer soon informed team manager Steve Bernard, who went by the protocol and filed an official report with the ACSU.

The issue is under investigation but the player is not suspected of any wrongdoing, the report claimed.

Incidentally, there was similar reports of bookmakers approaching Pakistani cricketers in Colombo during their Test series in Sri Lanka.

ACSU chairman Paul Condon has been insisting that Twenty20 was more vulnerable to corruption.

The report claimed that ACSU was also probing incidents of suspected bookmakers approaching players during the Twenty20 World Cup in England.
