Bangladesh Extend Siddons Contract

Dhaka: Bangladesh have extended the contract of their coach Jamie Siddons until the 2011 World Cup, a senior official of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said on Wednesday.

Siddons joined Bangladesh in November 2007, replacing his compatriot Dav Whatmore.

The official said pace bowler Mashrafe Mortaza and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan had been retained as captain and vice-captain of the national team for a five-match One-day series against Zimbabwe starting in October.

The meeting also agreed to a proposal from the England and Wales Cricket Board for a day-night test during their tour of England next year. The match, which needs the approval of the International Cricket Council, would be the first day-night test ever staged.
