DDCA Revolt Intensifies, Two More Players Skip Camp

New Delhi: Two more Delhi Ranji Trophy players have reportedly opted to skip the conditioning camp organized by the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) at the Ferozeshah Kotla, raising the number of missing players to nine.

After seven players skipped the camp on Wednesday, two more players - Ashish Nehra and Vartik Tihara, too, have given the camp a miss on the second day.

This comes despite assurance from the DDCA vice president Chetan Chauhan and coach Vijay Dahiya that players had informed them about their absence and that they will report to the camp today.

Times Now quoted Dahiya as saying that the missing players had gone to keep a "previous commitment for an advertisement".

"See the positive things also. The positive thing is there are two people who have already joined and some others will also join," he said, adding he did not know why Ashish Nehra had not come in for practice. "But it is likely that he is just running late," said Dahiya.

Gautam Gambhir along with Rajat Bhatia, Mithun Manhas, Chetan Nanda and Punit Bisht continued to stay away from the camp at the Firoz Shah Kotla.

The Delhi Ranji side is up in revolt after skipper Virender Sehwag along with other members threatened to walk out of the side accusing the DDCA for manipulation in selection process.
