Dhoni, Kohli Seal Easy First Win for India

Dhaka: Skipper Dhoni (101*) and Kohli (91) put on a record 152-run fourth wicket partnership to help India beat Bangladesh by 6 wickets in the third ODI.

The round one of the Tri-nation series comes to an end with this game, Sri Lanka have 2 wins, India 1 while home side Bangladesh have none.

Chasing a challenging total of 297, India were left reeling on 51 for 3 when Yuvraj fell quite cheaply. Bangladesh had their moment then but India did not give them anymore in the coming overs. Young Kohli (91) stood there along with his skipper Dhoni, adding 152 runs for the 4th wicket before getting out in the 35th over.

Next, it was Raina (51*) who joined his skipper and both took India home with an unbeaten 94-run stand for the 5th wicket. MS Dhoni (101*) played right through, first helping India recover and then completing the win with his 7th ODI ton. He was hence awarded the Man of the Match.

14th ODI fifty for Suresh Raina. He had the opportunity to smash the winning runs to get to his fifty and he did it.

Sri Lanka will meet Bangladesh tomorrow in the 4th match of the Tri-nation series.

Earlier, Indian bowlers were once again patchy as Bangladesh posted a challenging 296 for six in their second match of the Idea Cup tri-nation here on Friday.

Surprisingly electing to bat after winning the toss apparently due to less prospect of due at night, the home team capitalised on the Indian bowlers' ordinary performance to register their fifth highest one-day score in the day-nighter at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium here.

Imrul Kayes top-scored with 70 off 100 balls with the help of five fours and a six while his opening partner Tamim Iqbal made a quick 42-ball 60 which was studded with 10 fours and a six.

Mahmadullah Riyad used his long handle to great effect towards the end with a quickfire 45-ball 60 to pile up 88 runs in the last 10 overs and take Bangladesh to the huge score.

Indian pacers lacklustre performance continued as Zaheer Khan, who did not open the bowling today, bled 43 runs from his six overs without any wicket while Ashish Nehra conceded 44 runs from his six overs with a wicket against his name.

Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who picked up three wickets against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, failed to impress with figures of one for 56 while Jadeja finished with figures of 1/45.

Left-arm spinner Yuvraj was the best among the lot as he took one wicket at the expense of 33 runs from his 10 overs.
