Former BCCI Vice-president BB Das Passes Away

Cuttack: Bibhuti Bhusan Das, former BCCI vice-president and secretary of Orissa Cricket Association, passed away after a prolonged illness on Wednesday.

Das, 85, who is survived by wife and two sons, breathed his last at his residence, family sources said.

Former head of Mayurbhanj District Athletic Association, Das was elected as the OCA secretary in 1976 and continued to remain in the same post till 2000.

Das was also elected as a vice-president of the BCCI in 1988 and remained in the post till 1992. He was also elected as the secretary of Orissa Olympic Association (OOA) in 1984.

During his last tenure as the secretary of OCA, the veteran sports administrator took initiative to install the floodlights at Barabati Stadium.

OCA condoled the death of Das.
