Irani Cup 2009 - Sehwag Will Lead the Rest of India

Chennai: Recovering from a shoulder injury, opener Virender Sehwag will return to action in the Irani Cup and will lead the Rest of India team in the October 1 to 5 tournament against Mumbai in Nagpur.

Sehwag, who missed the just-concluded tri-series in Sri Lanka due to the injury he sustained during the Indian Premier League, will have S Badrinath as his deputy.

Sehwag had missed the ICC World Twenty20 as well as the subsequent tours of West Indies and Sri Lanka, and has undergone a surgery since. The Irani Cup also gives Sreesanth an opportunity to press his way back into national reckoning. He last played for India in April 2008, and has since been out because of injury and form.
