Florida: New Zealand captain Ross Taylor has been ruled out of Sunday's Twenty20 match against West Indies due to a shoulder injury, NZC said.
Taylor is also unlikely to feature in the first part of the One Day International series after scans revealed a grade two injury.
The injury occurred when the BLACKCAPS captain landed heavily on his left shoulder while attempting to take a catch. Taylor remained on the field until the end of the innings but was only able to face 11 deliveries before being retired hurt.
Blackcaps Physiotherapist, Paul Close said: “Unfortunately, Ross sustained a grade two injury to his left AC joint during the game today. It was confirmed by the x-ray and MRI scan completed at the hospital.
New Zealand suffered a spate of injuries while fielding during their 56-run loss to West Indies in the first Twenty20 international in Florida on Saturday with Taylor, Ronnie Hira and Jacob Oram all getting hurt.
Taylor, who broke his arm in March after being struck by a bouncer from South Africa pacer Morne Morkel, damaged his left shoulder when he landed heavily after attempting a catch.
He remained in the field as New Zealand bowled but was forced to retire hurt while batting.
New Zealand are yet to name a stand-in captain. The regular vice-captain, Brendon McCullum, has been rested for the limited-overs leg of the Caribbean tour.
