Mumbai Beat England By 124-runs In 2nd Warm-up Match

Mumbai: Mumbai teams continued their tradition of surprising visiting squads as a Mumbai Cricket Association XI team thrashed a full strength England side by no less that 124-runs in the second and final one-day practice game at the Brabourne Stadium here on Tuesday. In 1998 too, a double ton by Sachin Tendulkar had floored Australia. Mumbai almost did the Unthinkable again in 2001 before Steve Waugh bailed the Aussies out.

England not head for Rajkot for the first ODI. The wreckers in cheif were Mumbai Ranji hopeful Kshemal Waingankar (5/37) and Rahil Shaikh (3/35). Chasing 223 for victory, Kevin Pietersen & Co were bowled out for a paaltry 98 in just 25 overs. Eight batsmen field to reach double figures. Off-spinner Graeme Swann top-scored with an unbeaten 24 event as No. 11 James Anderson managed 20.

Brief Score: Mumbai XI 222-7 in 50 overs (Sushant Marathe 65, Steve Harmison 3-38) beat England 98 in 25 overs (Swann 24*,  Waingankar 5/37) by 124 runs.
